I just bought iMac and PD 5.0 Software. First PD installer went almost to the end but when I clicked reboot now it showed message PD 5.0 was not installed succesfuly. Then I tried again and installer is quitting during installation. Any help with installing it. I would call support but charging for help for something that cannot be even installed is not fair. Thank You,
Same here! I've got the EXACT same problem. BRAND NEW iMac i5, BRAND NEW copy of Parallels 5. Goes to the end of the install and says install was successful. Then says "reboot." When I reboot I get the error message -- Install unsuccessful. When I click to get error details, nothing happens. When I click cancel, my computer crashes and restarts. Not a happy camper!
Somehow I was able to resolve this problem. I installed it and then forced quit installer instead of clicking the reboot button. If you are not succesfull just force quit everything and shut down you computer ( at this point I was pretty angry). When I come back to work next morning and turned it back on it was installed. Basically I did not do anything and my anger helped me solve the issue. Good luck
Darn it. I just tried your approach and it still didn't install. I'll try a few more times tonight. Thanks!
I'm having the same exact issue as you two guys, and I tried Michal's solution and that didn't work for me either. Brand new Mac, brand new Parallels, this type of thing shouldn't happen! I didn't shut it down overnight, so maybe that is the magic trick.
Found a workaround I found a way to solve my problem that I wanted to share. I downloaded the trial version of PD 5 from the Parallels site, and that installed just fine on the very first try. The downloaded version is a full version, so if you have a CD key from the package you purchased, you can activate your trial version with that key and you will be good to go.
