    Hello

    SYSTEM 1
iMac 20" mid 2008 currently running Snow Leopard with Parallels 5 with WinXP Bootcamp installation

    SYSTEM 2
MacBook Pro May 2010 currently running Snow Leopard only

I have a Windows 7 Upgrade. I have another licence for WinXP.

Given I can't upgrade within Bootcamp from WinXP to Windows 7, and I can't do a clean installation of Windows using an upgrade disc in Bootcamp, what is the best way to get Windows 7 running on either of these machines - I don't care which one and I don't need to keep a WinXP installation. I also don't care whether I use Bootcamp or not.

Can I do a clean installation of Windows 7 using the upgrade disk in Parallels 5 on the MacBook Pro, for instance? When I originally did my WinXP installation I needed to slipstream my original WinXP disc to create an SP2 disc - perhaps that's the sort of thing I have to do now?

    Many thanks for your suggestions

    Deborah

With the information on this site ...

I went ahead in Parallels 5 and installed Windows 7 as a VM using the upgrade disk. Did not enter activation code when installing, it all went smoothly, did all the upgrades, rebooted, chose to activate, entered code and voila! It was accepted. One of the lucky ones that gets a clean install from an Upgrade disk with no problems.

All my software is paid for and legal so it was good that it all worked out.
