Tonight has not been much fun, which is 'funny' because I primarily bought Parallels to play one fun game. So here's the deal, I'm trying to get my Windows 98 VM running on my Mac Pro so that I can play a bit of Creatures. It's a "virtual life" game from 1997 that does not run on Windows XP. After several hours of trying to get the video drivers set, success finally came. However I have not been quite as lucky in the sound department. Apparently Parallels 4-5 no longer include the Win98 sound drivers that came with the earlier versions, and this is a bit of a problem. Virtualization is honestly my only option to use this software and I would really love if somebody could help me figure out a way to get the driver I need.
This is a deal breaker. Been messing on my friends system and also ran into this issue. The only reason for installing Win98 these days is to play some of the excellent games that do not work with Microsofts "win98" compatible mode in Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7. I was considering purchasing parallels so I could get rid of my very old computers with 98 on them. I understand Parallels 3 had sound drivers for Windows. Anyone tried these and get them to work?
