I have a full size Microsoft keyboard connected to my MacBook Pro (via USB). The numeric keypad on the keyboard can serve two roles: entering numbers (if NumLock is On), and cursor movement (if NumLock is Off). The cursor movement key functions worked just fine when running a Windows VM in Parallels 5. After upgrading to Parallels 6, it appears that Parallels always treats these keys as number keys regardless of the NumLock setting. I sure how there is an option somewhere to change this behavior, because I am highly dependent on the cursor movement key functionality of the numeric key pad. Ray
I can't change NumLock status either to get cursor movement in Parallels Desktop 6. I'm using a Mac keyboard. Mapping a key to NumLock in Preferences -> Keyboard or selecting NumLock in Devices -> Keyboard has no affect. It used to work in Parallels Desktop 5. I usually don't use NumLock because the Mac keyboard has all the cursor movement keys elsewhere. Aren't Windows keyboards the same? Do you find it's faster to use the keypad for moving than to use the arrow keys/home/end/pageup/pagedown/insert/del keys? The latest Mac keyboards have an fn key where the help/insert key used to be...
I got a reply to my ticket asking me to try the numlock key. Which of course does not work. I replied to re-open the ticket, so I will presume they are going to dig deeper.
Please check for updates from within Parallels Desktop. The issue should be fixed after update is applied.
