I downloaded the trial version of Parallels Desktop and tried to install Windows 7. Two problems: (1) Parallels tools won't install; (2) Windows 7 will not complete the installation, I get "trying to boot from SATA Drive 1 . . , and "Bootmgr missing, Press Ctl-Alt-Del" Pressing C-A-D just brings me back to the same place. There does not seem to be any reference to this problem in the documentation. Anybody know what's going on?
same problem No Idea what to do. Can I uninstall Parallels? Or uninstall the Attempted Window 7 install. I have a late 2008 macbook. Tried to install windows 7 64-bit. got Bootmgr missing error message
Read the PDF documentation. http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/technical-documentation/ Then Open the Virtual Machine List, right click the virtual machine, then select Remove. Move it to the Trash. Then create a new virtual machine.
We installed Parallels on 4 MacBook Pros. At first it started ok on all of them, but the next day two of them failed to start. Same error, BOOTMGR is missing. Re-installing Windows 7 isn't an option if we have to do it frequently. Is there any information on what would actually solve the problem? I also tried to submit a ticket on this one but there seems to be an issue with the support system. I was charged by Digital River but never got the credit on Parallels support. Uh oh.
Thanks for this useful thread! My problem was with Parallels failing to load Windows 7, resulting with bootmgr missing -error. I purchased an incident credit but the Parallels support still wasn't letting me to report a bug. I guess that's their current method of limiting negative feedback. Oh well, at least the other virtualization product works.
I have this same problem, I am a student who just paid $289 for windows plus $69.95 for parallels and it comes up with the same bootmgr problem. I am not computer literate at all, and don't understand over half the stuff you guys say, who am i to ask for a solution?
ValeriaE, please send us a problem report. To do this start your virtual machine, go to Help menu and click "Report a Problem" item. If everything goes ok, report identifier would be shown. Post this ID here and we'll try to investigate what's wrong.
I am having the same problem. I have a trial version but can't get past the bootmgr missing issue. I reported the problem. ID# 8379929
I have the same problem and I can't send a report... the server does not answer... since I'm not a specialist can I get a simple way to solve that problem ? Thanks for you help.
Chanjou what was you doing with VM before you got this error? Is it result of interrupted windows installation?
