I often suspend my VMs and, every once in a while, when I start them up I get the following message: "The physical network adapter connected to virtual network adapter 1 does not exist." At this point, I have no networking in the Win7 guest. Rebooting the guest has not helped. I need to delete and recreate the network adapter with Parallels for that guest. This problem started with last build of 5 (5.0.9376) and has continued with 6 (6.0.11822). With 5, I was able to follow some instructions from a forum post to reset the network to default settings. That option is no longer available in 6. I have completely removed the adapter in Windows, then Parallels, then recreate in Parallels and let Window redo the drivers. That worked, but the problem recurred in a day or so. Other network (modifiers) I have installed: Cisco AnyConnect VPN and VZAccess Manager for tethering.
Hi, Please reproduce the problem. Then click Parallels Destkop menu "Help"->"Report a Problem", send a problem report (it is not necessary to provide description) and post here the report ID.
In Parallels 6, the default option is at Parallels Desktop -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Network: Change settings -> Shared -> Restore Defaults (and Host-Only -> Restore Defaults) Are you using Bridged Networking? Did you select Default Adapter? Instead, try choosing the specific adapter.
I am using shared network. I don't want to choose a specific adapter because it changes depending on if I am at the office, at home, VPN, or using VZ tethering. Oddly enough, now that I posted here, I can't get it to fail. Figures.
Finally failed again, today. "Your problem report has been sent to the Parallels Support team with ID 6889146."
Hi, Thank you for the report. We have not seen issues like that before Try the following stepts: 1) Execute "Restore Defaults" using menu Parallels Desktop -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Network: Change settings -> Shared -> Restore Defaults (and Host-Only -> Restore Defaults) 2) Then click network-icon in the Status-Bar of PD and choose "Disconnect". Then using the same icon connect it again. Please post one more problem report if this have not helped
That worked, however... I did #1 without issue. When I went to do #2, the network was already "Disconnect". When I selected "Shared" the network started working again. I am pretty sure this is part of what happens. Parallels complains about the adapter not existing and then disconnects it.
I believe I have noticed another behaviour to add to the list. The last couple of times this failure happened, Parallels prompted me to register on launch. I clicked "Don't Register" as I have already done it a couple of times.
+1 Report submitted - 6968626 Relatively new phenomena. Has happened two or three times in the last month or so (with infrequent use of VM). Restoration of (working)snapshot did not resolve.
Ok.. thank you for the report. It is turned out the same issue as in the head-post of the topic (according to the logs in report). We've just improved the situation in the internal build, so the fix should be available in the nearest update So far please use workaround with pressing "Restore Defaults"
Hi, is this issue supposed to be solved? I'm running Parallels Desktop 6 Build 6.0.12090 and I am intermittently experiencing the same problem, in particular when resuming from sleep after moving from home to office or from office to home.
The problem in the thread is different from the one you have.. As a workaround for the issue you've met I can suggest to choose "Disconnect" and the after 10 seconds back "Connect" by clicking menu of Parallels Desktop "Devices" -> Network
