The bug with USB and isight on macbookpro 15" (original not duo 2) still exists in latest RC. If ichat is launched the isight stalls ichat for a very long time in a beachball while it waits for isight camera to be released for some reason. This is with parallels closed of course and not using device but I believe the parallels connectusb extention culprit. I also notice this during startup every time

will this fix my current problem?

I'm trying to capture streaming video (with audio) on SnagIt 8.2 in windows XP.

I have my audio settings in windows to record from "stereo mix"

However, I pick up the recording from my internal microphone in my core 2 duo macbook pro.

In the device file menu there is no way to turn the internal mic off or switch it to windows.

Anything change in the new version?

    Apple Modem

With RC2 it installs and I can dial out with it, but there is so much static on the line it does not connect. I am also getting random BSODs.

    Boot Camp, RC2 and activation

I activated my XP (Boot Camp) install from within Parallels, but now that I reboot into the Boot Camp partition it wants me to activate again.

I thought this was fixed? Is there some special procedure that needs to be done to let one activation work in both environments?

Activation has to be done in both bootcamp and parallels. so just call MS and tell them that you have it installed on one machine and are using parallels. They will give you another activation key. then you are good to go in both environments.

I see, thanks. Thought I had missed the secret handshake or something :)

I've noticed that Parallels takes up about 40% CPU utilization when I am loaded in Windows XP, but not doing anything. I don't have any programs running or any programs in the background, but the CPU usage is about 40%. If I remember correctly in previous builds, the CPU usage would only be maybe 7-10% when Windows XP was just running. Could it be that I am using coherence, so Parallels needs more resources?

Philips Speechmike 6274 Still Doesn't work with 3150 build.

Now it will work as a mic and speaker without crashing XP session. However, buttons and trackball show up in device manager without drivers(even though standard Philips driver package has been installed). Attempts to reinstall drivers don't work. This is pretty much the only thing keeping me from being able to go completely Mac for hardware with Parallels to run my XP apps. Was hoping this build would do it. Please help Parallels!! Thanks.

I see only 13-14% (19-20% with 3120) usage on my C2D MBP, but when I connect my iSight, even without running a program that uses it, usage jumps up to 40-50%, and doesn't drop until I disconnect the iSight. Maybe the USB drivers are in-efficient. Do you have any USB devices connected?

    Cheers

Help me install iSight driver in XP

I did the following, but still could not install iSight driver.

    1. I added USB in VM Configuration.
    2. I ran the "Install Macintosh Drivers for Windows.exe" in XP
    3. But in Device Manager, there is no sign of iSight.

I tried to manually add new hardware and select the iSight.inf file, but Windows just cannot find enough info from the file to add the hardware.

So what should I do get iSight work?

    My Mac: New Macbook Pro.

I'm not sure. I'm running off a bootcamp partition so I installed all the bootcamp drivers under boot camp, then booted in to Parallels and when i activated the iSight for the first time, it just installed it as 'iSight #2'.

    isight disappears

regarding all the isight posts, I got mine working via the bootcamp drivers, chatted in MSN with it working and was pretty damn pleased with myself. however after shutting down Paralells , my isight has disappeared from the device list on my mac, many reboots have not fixed the problem, now ichat and skype complain there is no camera attached, and paralells no longer lists it in the usb devices list...any ideas ?

    Re: isight.

Mine didn't show up until I went to the Devices menu, USB, and captured it.

I assume like the optical drive, the iSight is only available to _either_ the Mac or to Windows, but not at the same time (so you might not want to have iChat open).

I'm not sure if this is related, but I've had mouse & keyboard issues (Logitech Wireless Comfort Control) since installing this latest version. I noticed when selecting my Blackberry from the USB selector on Parallels, sometimes it will disable my mouse & keyboard. In order to get it back, I have to disconnect the wireless receiver from USB or undock my macbook.

Also, as others have noted, I also get lots of spinning beach balls where the VM seems unresponsive, then 4-5 seconds later things go back to normal.

    Very annoying!

I had this problem once; completly shutdown your Mac and unplug all USB devices. Wait a minute or two and restart your Mac. You can replug your USB devices while it start.

Dumb question.... How do I disable the Windows Taskbar? I can't seem to find it.

Perhaps because of potential data corruption. Already had plenty of that with prior releases and it pissed a lot of people off. On top of that, Apple only officially supports Windows XP, Service Pack 2 in boot camp, not Vista. I fully suspect that the Parallels team is working to get a stable version out for the supported configurations before tackling a different beta for Vista. The majority of people won't be moving to Vista for a while, so there is no rush. However, everyone has access to XP SP2.

Any applications you want to see on the Mac desktop, you'll have to add to your Parallels favorite menu item, then you can go to where you *.PVS file is, go into the Windows Applications directory, then make a shortcut of those to the Mac desktop (CMD-OPTION-Drag). As for the Windows trash, I don't think that is possible with Coherence.

In Parallels - View menu - Turn Coherence on, then in Customize... next to Windows Task Bar uncheck "Show".
