I have an iMac w/ 4 GB of RAM. As soon as I startup Parallels running Windows XP, the most, if not all then system resources are consumed and the system slows to a crawl. When I shut it down, I get back to a system that rather quick to navigate. Has anyone experienced the same thing, and if so, have you been able to tweak it at all to get better performance?
I'm having the same problem I'm having the same problem, and haven't found a solution, although I haven't spent a lot of time on it yet. I recall something similar happening to me with an earlier version of Parallels, and I had phone support at the time. The technician had me go into a Parallels folder in Finder and delete a file or compress the virtual machine file or something like that. I no longer have phone support, so I'm trying to track down the instructions for that fix.
I have the same configeration,ie Windows XP and had the same problem. I am running PC Tools Sprware Doctor and when I disabled it the speed returned to normal.
