I tried to use a Nimbie Sidekick with an Epson P50 printer under Parallels 6 (Win XP and Win 7). The printer is recognized and fully functional, but it cannot be detected by the Nimbie's software which controls the automatic disc loader. The support was able to track down the problem to the fact that the printer's ID in the registry changes each time it is reconnected. This would happen only in a VM not in a physical environment. Is this a bug which can be fixed or some necessary "feature", needed by Parallels tools ? You can close this case, the issue was solved by Nimbie's support. However, the VM's behavior might affect other 3rd party software as long as the printer ID issue persists. -- Harald
