Hey, bridged networking has stopped working on both my VM's (both debian linux) completely out of the blue. It was working fine a few days ago and now something wierd is going on. I can obtain an IP address from my DHCP server but if i then try to ping that same dhcp server or any other machine on the network I get 'Destination Host Unreachable' errors. I have tried the usual stuff of bringing down and up interfaces, renewing my dhcp lease but to no avail.

Everything works fine if i use shared networking but unfortunately that is not what I need. I have tried reinstalling parallels and am now installing a new VM to test.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

Why do you need to use Bridged Networking instead of Shared Networking? Is there some problem with using Shared Networking?

Yea, I need to be able to access the VM's from the network.

Anyways, the issue appears to have resolved itself. I installed a new vm and everything worked fine, then i went back to the old vms and suddenly they are working as well. I would prefer a satisfactory answer as to why it stopped working in the first place but I'll just settle for it being working :p

...and that can't be done using Shared Networking?

I'm asking because I really don't know so, if you know that's true, and/or you know WHY it's true, I would appreciate the infor - or point me to a URL that might help.
