Hi everyone. I am running OS X 10.6 and Windows 7 via Parallels 6. I have an AirPort Extreme base station with an HP LaserJet 1320 connected to it via USB.

I want to print inside Windows 7 and the default printers is "Use Mac Printer." I try to print and I do not get any errors, but nothing is ever sent to the printer. I look at the Use Mac Printer properties and it shows an HP 2800 series printer? Is this a default in installation?

Any ideas on how to get this to work?

    Thanks!

The "Use Mac Printer" Windows printer is installed by Parallels Tools. It is connected to LPT1 which is the Printer Port 1 in your virtual machine hardware configuration. It pretends to be a HP 2800 series printer.

Check the printer port settings in the virtual machine hardware configuration. Is it Connected, and is the Source set to either Default Printer or your HP printer?

Can your Mac print to the printer?

Instead of using the "Use Mac Printer" printer, you could try installing the Windows HP LaserJet 1320 driver and connecting to it over the network like your Mac does. Read the Parallels "Setting Up a Printer in a Virtual Machine" documentation in the Help menu.

I had the same problem and finally got Win7 to send to the printer by following this:

    http://kb.parallels.com/en/4990

However, although the printer prints now, it won't print the contents of the page I'm trying to print. It will only print a blank page, or "Page 1 of 1" at the top, or a line of computerspeak at the bottom of the page.

Haven't found anything in the forums yet about that, so I guess I'll be contacing Parallels support next.
