    Hi,

I upgraded to 10.6.8 yesterday and now I can't start Parallel. It just display the spinning wheel and never give me the option to select the virtual machine I want to start. (Same thing if I click directly on the shortcut for my virtual machine). What is strange is that I can click "About Parallels Desktop" and it display the window (Build 12090).

    What can I do?

Similar issue with CD/DVD. Upgraded to OSX 10.6.8 and now Parallels Desktop 5 opens, but tells me the CD/DVD drive is not available, or used by another program or files missing and it will not be connected. Sounds like 10.6.8 breaks parts of Parallels. Perhaps Parallels needs to release an upgrade???

No kidding...and SOON. The time and energy I've personally expended having to constantly trace issues on my brand-new MacBook Air to Parallels has been substantial. In terms of both my personal time and in terms of likely lifetime impacts on my Air, I personally feel Parallels owes me some cash. Seriously, I'm not kidding. I've spent many hours tracing errors using Activity Monitor and found bug after bug in Parallels. I'm a professional, and time is money....I've already spent FAR MORE of my personal time on Parallels than the cost of the software. Seriously considering VM Fusion at this point.

Two things - 1. Upgraded from Desktop 5 to 6 and now it works again. Its a shame I had to spend $50 on an upgrade to get it to work, but I figured it was time to upgrade anyway. 2. Once I upgraded to 6 it wouldnt start. I clicked on the icon in the dock and it wouldnt do anything and put a big ? over the icon. I tried to fire it up from within the apps folder and it asked me to put in my registration key. Once I did that, it worked. I had to delete the icon from my dock and re-add it though. Perhaps if your Desktop 6 is not starting you can try from within the apps folder and not from the icon on the dock if you havent already... good luck.

EDIT- It doesnt work! Now Parallels Desktop 6 can see my CD/DVD drive and use it, but I tried to burn two DVD's as I have always done and they both failed at the very end. Now I am getting pissed.... $50 bucks for an upgrade and it still doesnt work.
