Hi, I'm running PD 4.0.3844 on Mac OS X 1.5.7 and Windows XPSP3 as a guest OS. A few minutes after starting the virtual machine, the process prl_naptd starts using 170% of the CPU, stopping the Mac doing anything else. It makes no difference if I start the boot camp partition, or a VM file. When I kill the process manually, everything is back to normal. What happens here, and how can I stop this? Thanks DMS
Interesting. Please try the following 1. Try also this setting: http://forum.parallels.com/showpost.php?p=377173&postcount=16 2. If this doesn't help, try to disable IPv6. It can be done from ControlPanel->Network Connection -> Local Area Connection -> Properties and uncheck all parameters for IPv6
After a fresh Mac reboot, and without starting Parallels, MacOS Activity monitor shows prl_naptd taking large amounts (>68%) of cpu. Why is this process running? Can I kill it safely?
What version of Parallels Desktop you are using? If it is 6.0, I'd appreciate if you could send a problem report using menu of Parallels Desktop "Help" -> "Report a Problem" and post here its ID (description is not required) This process provides Shared Networking for VMs.
