    Hello,

I have been using Parallels 6 for Mac with XP VPM on my MBP 13" 160GB HDD. The XP VPM is running with 35GB. I am about to run out of space on my Mac. I wanted to buy an external an external USB HDD that's 750GB and partition it as follows 1) 500GB for my MBP, and 2) 250GB for my VPM XP. I don't know if Parallels can run from an external drive or if I can only use it as an added drive where my work is saved.

I use Parallels VPM XP mostly for the following windows programs: QuickBooks, ProSeries Tax Software, and other professional software packages.

If you have more questions please ask.

    Thanks,

    Ricardo

You can run Parallels from an external drive.

However, I use Firewire 800 on my MBP (and Firewire 400 on my macbook). Either should be faster than USB 2.

I have just tried running Windows 7 via USB 2, but only for a few minutes. It seems to run OK.

Ricardo, you can use USB external drives with no problem. I'm using Win 7 and Win XP on external drive.
