I'm getting an unexplained error on Lion with Windows 7 when Parallels Tools is installed. This problem is interfering with my ability to diagnose other network problems which may or may not be related to Parallels.

This looks like a bug in Parallels Tools.

    Reproducing is simple:
    1. Under Parallels 6 (Build 6.0.12094), Lion (10.7.1) install Windows 7 Pro, no service packs.
I disabled the VM's network to demonstrate that the problem isn't with my actual network.

    2. From the Windows command prompt, enter
    net view \\bogusnamehere

    With Parallels Tools installed, get:

    Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    C:\Users\Administrator>net view \\bogusnamehere
    System error 1706 has occurred.

    The endpoint format is invalid.

With Parallels Tools uninstalled, get the (expected):
    Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    C:\Users\Administrator>net view \\bogusnamehere
    System error 53 has occurred.

The network path was not found

    What up with that?

    Similar Issue

When trying to net view between two windows 7 VM's (local host net connection) I receive the same thing. I'm not sure if removing parallels tools will fix but may end up resorting to this.
