I have a friend who will be buying the new mac with the new operating system coming out later this Spring. He is willing to sell me his system.
I am a pc user moving to Mac; but I must be able to use some of my pc applications in parallels until I get all my documents and financials in mac.
My friend bought his mac power pc G4 IMac in Ap. 2004. I has the Mac os X.3.9, 1.25 ghz, 512 mb ram.
Will this system support parallels and windows applications?

No! you must have a mac with an intel chip to run parallels. To run windows on a mac with a power pc chip you need a program called Virtual PC from microsoft. Virtual PC will work but will run very slow on the system your friend wants to sell you.
