I have a new Macbook Air with Parallels Desktop 7 licence bought at a local store. I have a original Windows 7 Professional 32-bit DVD. I have tried to install Windows with bootable USB-memory, Bootable DVD in a "sata-usb"-adapter (working fine in Finder) and ISO-image... NOTHING works... PD just tells my "boot failed".... My last theory is that an Apple-Superdrive-usb is required??
No. ISO image is enough. Something you are doing wrong. Please provide your config.pvs file situated into VM bundle.
config.pvs coming here... http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42224318/config.pvs <---- link to pvs-file http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42224318/mbair.png <--- picture of the error
Uninstall tested 1st time I did install Parallels from downloaded dmg-file. I uninstalled that one and tried to install it from the provided DVD. The install did work fine but the problem is still there, unable to boot from Windows-DVD.
Problem solved The problem got solved by doing these steps. I tried to Boot Windows 7 from a bootable COPY of the original DVD. Did not work. When I made a DMG of the ORIGINAL DVD on the Air and mounted it in PD7 it did work. The COPY was bootable on a regular PC but not on PD7 wich confused me.
<CdRom id="0" dyn_lists=""> <Index>0</Index> <Enabled>1</Enabled> <Connected>0</Connected> <EmulatedType>0</EmulatedType> <SystemName>Default CD/DVD-ROM</SystemName> <UserFriendlyName>Default CD/DVD</UserFriendlyName> <Remote>0</Remote> <InterfaceType>2</InterfaceType> <StackIndex>1</StackIndex> <Passthrough>1</Passthrough> <DeviceDescription></DeviceDescription> </CdRom> There is a problem. You've got an invalid configuration of CD/DVD somehow... I do not know how it's possible. Obviously that <SystemName>Default CD/DVD-ROM</SystemName> is invalid. As a solution to be able use your DVD drive with VM, you need to choose it from menu or from VM configuration editor. Switch from "Default CD/DVD-ROM" to your drive label. It must present in a list of avalable CD/DVD devices. If it is absent there, please generate a "Report a problem" data and provide its number. And do not forget to check "Connected" checkbox. Thank you.
