    Hi,

I get following error in a converted Windows 7 guest from VMware Fusion "This device cannot find enough resources that it can use. (Code 12)".

Ii is the same problem as mentioned in KB Article ID: 7047 at URL: http://kb.parallels.com/7047

Instead of an "ATI PCI Express(3GIO) Filter Driver" I have an "AMD PCI Express(3GIO) Filter Driver" . I tried to delete this driver using the procedure in the above mentioned article, but it re-installs itself every time after a reboot. It is a Windows 7 convert image from a Physical machine. I can run this image perfect in VMWare Fusion, but not in Parallels.

Anyone has a suggestion to get this going in Parallels. I have to ditch Parallels and go back to VMware Fusion, if this problem cannot be resolved.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Horst

    Solution found!

Hi, I had the same issue but until Parallels support told me it was an issue with that file (and they didn't tell me that for almost a full month), I had no idea what the problem was. The 2nd level tech tried to be helpful, but his response was the definition of insanity, he told me to keep deleting the device with its files and at some point it will not come back. Yeah, do the same thing over and over and expect different results? I think not.

The solution, after much pulling of hair and gnashing of teeth was as follows:

    1. Shut down the affected VM.
    2. Find the VM's file (the .hdd file), usually in ~/Documents/Parallels
    3. Right-click and select "Show Package Contents"
    4. Right-clcik on the main (if you have more than one) hard drive file (.hdd file) and select "Open With >" and select "Parallels Mounter"
    5. Navigate to the following 2 files and change their names (I'm giving them in Windows syntax):

    C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\atipcie.inf_amd...
    C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\machine.inf_amd...

I added the ellipses at the end as it might be amd64 (as in my case) or amd32, I don't know, but look for directories starting with those strings.

In the 1st one you are looking for a file called "AtiPcie.sys", change it to something else like "xAtiPcie.sys".
In the 2nd one you are looking for "pci.sys", change it to something else like "xpci.sys".

Dismount the drive and boot your VM. It took about 4-6 reboots to get everything cleaned up, but once it was done, everything was fine.

    I hope this helps!

Thanks, For the information, but no luck. Did you remove the AMD PCI Express (3GIO) Filter Driver. I tried about 10 times after renaming the files.

The Filter Driver re-installed after each reboot.

    Thanks,
    Horst
