    Hello,

I purchased a MacBook yesterday, and installed Parallels and an English version of Windows XP. My problem is that my MacBook has a Japanese keyboard layout, so some of the keys produce different characters when pressed in Windows XP. Unfortunately, Windows XP is not giving me any other options for keyboard layouts aside from the standard English 106-key keyboard, which is totally different than the keyboard included in my MacBook. Any recommendations? I'd really appreciate any help you may be able to offer.

    Thanks in advance.

I always use an external USB mouse and big keyboard

in my case danish XP on an english mac

if you are using mostly english get an MS or an Apple keyboard

the Mac character preferences and palette
are under personal preferencess -- International

If you are doing japanese work you may need to download stuff from microsoft

to add keyboard layouts under Win XP
    go into the Control Panels
    under the International language settings
I see 10001 mac (japanese) charcater set

    good luck

    Dear Bill
Good morning to you and I have not done this on my MBP, but this is how you do it on Window (I assume will work the same in VM)

    in control panel.
    select Regional and Language options,
go to languages tab and check install files for East Asian Languages.
system will prompt you for Window CD (needs 230 Mb to install)
once installation is done, system will reboot itself..
once done, come back to R&L options and select languages tab again
and select "Details" button.. it will open Text Services and Pinput languages window.
select Add and in the Add Input language window click on the drop down of Imput language field and select Japan..
apply and select Advanced tab and put a check mark on Extened Support of advanced text services to all programs...
    apply..
go back to settings tab and select default input language to Japan and apply...
this should enable use to use the japan keyboard layout...

    Good luck!

    JL
now at this point, you will be able to use the japan keyboard lay from mac.
