hi, I'm using build 3186 and have one curious thing on my Mac Pro: * installed are 2 windows 2000 VMs * I start the VM A - oll ok * I stop VM A * I start VM B - all ok, but suddenly VM A was started in the back auotmatically I can restart the mac, then at vfirst vstart VM B and the same: VM A was started some minutes later by magic I have also the same build on my Macbook Pro - but there one XP and one win 2000 - I can start what I want - never another VM was started automatically BTW: both VMs are set to NOT start automatically - this works well - if I start VM A or VM B I have to hit the green Start-Icon to start them do you have an idea why one W2000 VM can cause to start another one automatically ? of course both VMs have different computer names and different MAC Addresses regards ekke
still problems with 2 W2K installations hi, just upgraded to 3188. my MacBookPro works well (1 XP and 1 W2K) my MacPro still has the described problems wit 2 W2K installations as I wrote: it happens only if I start VM B even if I STOP the atomatically started VM A, if I start some applications from VM B (UltraEdit, IE, ...) Parallels started VM A again with some applications this doesnt happen (FireFox) doing the same from VM A - this will never auto-run VM B VM B was the second W2K I installed on the MacPro, VM A was installed at first and it never happens with the older versions before 3186 without Coherence etc. any ideas ? regards ekkehard
anyone problems with two W2K under 3186, 3188 ...because there are no answers... has onyone two W2K installations on a MacPro running with 3186, 3188 ? I had no problems with 1970, but with 318x starting the W2K installation I installed (months before) as the second W2K the other VM was started by magic thanks ekkehard
thanks - but with my MacBook and one XP and one W2000 all works well now I noticed that it doesn't depend from the VM - with both W2K - VMs it can happen, that the other one was started it only happens more often with the second installation really curious
It's not a problem for me to install W2k. I'll check this in evening. As you say, i should install W2k in standard configuration (parallels default) and then install second one. And then experiment. Am i right?
yes, this is my installation: two W2K installations then trying to start one and to start some applications thanks for your help
its even more curious: again I started W2K VM B W2K VM A was automatically started - this time I didn't stop this, so both VM are running UltraEdit is on both VM starting UltraEdit from VM B --> by magic also started inside VM A cosing is possible in both VMs separat starting UltraEdit from VM A - no UltraEdit was started in VM B same happens with IE 6 - which is also installed in both VMs starting FireFox - is also in both VM installed - works well, no other Firefox in other VM was started starting Excel, which was only in one VM - all works well so its really curious and never happened with 1970
I have installed it separately fresh from a original W2K-CD. ...and it works some months without problems with the 1970 release. the phenomen comes up after installing 3186
Problems is in Favorite Applications, as i can understand. We talked here about your problem, seems both VMs have same ID. You should try to do following things: 1. Open one of your Win2K configuration (PVS file) with TextEdit. 2. Find there "VM id" variable, change some numbers in value. 3. Remove "Windows Applications" folder in both VMs directories. It should help.
I had this with XP & ME - the solution was to store each VM ina separate folder so that each gets it's own favourite folder. Hippo
hi, thanks for your help. the IDs were different, but I had installed both VMs in one folder 'Windows2000' and so there was only one folder 'Windows Applications' for both moving both VMs in different folders fixes all. THANKS btw: perhaps this should into installation instructions or FAQ ?
