    A friend told me to come here because I am unable to get Parallels to run on my Macbook Pro. Here are the specs of my machine:

    2.33 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 2GB ram, running 10.4.9. Has a 160 gb hard drive, of which about 70 gb are in use.

    Here's what happened:

    I installed parallels, and was able to create a new VM. Then, when I try to load my OS, the computer immediately freezes and I immediately get the dark grey screen that I guess is Apple's version of the Windows Bluescreen. It has a picture of the power button and tells me I must do a forced restart. This happens whenever I try to install the OS on the new VM. I'm trying to install Windows XP SP2, but I don't think that matters in this case, as it doesn't even let me get that far.

    So far I have tried...

    --repairing permissions using Disk Utility;
    --uninstalling and reinstalling parallels;
    --creating new/different VMs with different ram and space settings.

    My friend also told me where I could find the panic.log, and that I should post it here. So here it is. This shows the last two times I tried it -- with the seemingly same result. As I said, uninstalling and reinstalling the software isn't helping. Is there something I need to change in my settings? Any suggestions? I really want this software to work for me. Is my machine not the right specs for it? I assumed it would be since I just got it in December, and all of my other programs (creative suite, etc) seem to run wonderfully on it.

    Says it's 1848.2 (June 26, 2006). That was from the "About Parallels Desktop".

    Latest build is 3188

    The latest build is 3188 (3/7/07). You can download it from here. [If you want to navigate there: Parallels main web page > Products (Menu) > Parallels Desktop for Mac > Download Trial (link on right side of page).]

    I'll try it, will that work with my product key?

    It should. (Unless you're upgrading from a non-US localized version of Parallels. E.g., a US key won't activate the UK or German version, and vice versa.)

    If you do have a non-US localized version, contact Parallels, they typically will accomodate you it seems.

    Build 1848 came out before the Core 2 Duo chip, and therefore does not support the Core 2 duo chip.

    You just need to download the current version as mentioned above.
