Hi, I hope my problem is not so big.... After a few frozen crashes of Windows Vista in PD 5 - The VM will not start again. I get a black screen with the message: SCSI controller is not installed. Network bootrom is installed Trying to boot from Primary Master IDE drive ... A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Del to restart I tryed to fix it with my Vista Installation DVD (Repairsystem) but it shows no OS. I used the systemrepair, but it will not fix the problem! After that use I get the error: SCSI controller is not installed. Network bootrom is installed Trying to boot from Primary Master IDE drive ... BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl+Del to restart I realy need some dokumentfiles in the VM. Can any body help? Thanks
Please make no reckoning to "SCSI controller is not installed" message. It is shown always when no SCSI devices presented in VM configuration. Do you have any snapshots? Anyway I hope you can access to your documents via Parallels Mounter or smth else. But I recommend you to create a New VM (with windows but it doesn't matter). After new VM completes Windows installations, _shutdown_ your VM (means power off, not suspend) and add an original HDD image as a second HDD drive to newly created VM. Better if you will copy "original_vm.pvm"/"original.hdd" directory to "new_vm.pvm".
Thanks, I can mount the VM but if I want to open my home directory I get the message, that I have no rights to look into. I used Vista with a password - how can I open it? Thanks
It is most probably not connected with password and rights - to be more certain we need to check Problem Report. File may be corrupted. Try the suggestion from previous post about adding your virtual harddrive to another virtual machine. In case if you are not able to see it in My Computer as the second harddrive or see the error, i suggest you to try any of tools below: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk http://softdm.com/
