    I have the same issue...

    Hi

Time in Windows always set to the last time I closed parallels.

    1. Vista Home Premium
    2. Tools fine (Coherence, etc)
    3. Time synch enabled
    4. Is the same with or without time difference set
    5. N/A

Its a real pain because outlook stamps the time on any messages you send, so each time I start the VM and forget to reset the clock, I end up sending emails dated yesterday!

And of course, my reminders and tasks don't alert me, since outlook thinks its yesterday!

    :-/

If you have problems with time sync in guest Vista please answer my questions:
    1. What edition of Vista (Business, Ultimate) do you have? Build number?

Vista enterprise. How do I find the build number? This is the final released version, not a pre-release.

    2. Are Parallels Tools installed correctly? Can you use, say, Coherence?

Yes, apparently so. I can use Coherence.

    3. In guest OS open Parallels Tools Center -> Time Syncronization settings and check that it has status "Enabled"

    Yes, it is enabled.

    4. Is "Keep difference between primary and guest OS" enabled?

    No

    5. What is "Synchronization interval, sec" value?

    60

    So what's up with this?

So anyone know what's up with this?

Did they verify this as a bug and working on a fix or did they write us off as a bunch of crack-pots?

No rush, just wondering why this thread died.

They confirmed this to be a bug somewhere in an other thread. And we're waiting for them now AS USUAL. But this is nothing new in our love/hate relationship with them, right? ;-)

Could this be related to User Rights Assignments

The "Change System Clock" right is normally not given to every users and normally only "Local System" and "Administrators" have this right. The Parallels Tools seem to run as the active user, but I couldn't tell which services were part of the Parallels Tools and whether they are running as Local System. This privilege, however, is new in Vista?!

What is the other thread where this is an acknowledged bug?

Does anyone know which thread this is?

    Hello everybody.

Finally we have reproduced this situation. Our engineers investigate this problem and if it's Parallels bug, it will be fixed in next versions.

    Thanks for letting us know.

Now let's hope we don't have to wait that long again for a Parallels update adressing this...

    just install nettime. http://nettime.sourceforge.net/

Set it to update every 5 mins or so.. then your clock will automatically sync to one of many internet timeservers.

    Ok.

    Please answer some additional questions:
    1. Do you run Vista as user with administrative rights or as restricted user? ( If you run as non-administrator usually, please login as admin and check that tyme sync works)
    2. Please run CMD as administrator and type "sc query toolsrv" (without quotes) and show me output result.
    3. Open Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services and see Parallels Tools Utility Service parameters. I need to know it's: status, startup type and logon settings.

    Thank you for your help.

    Running as Admin.

    Running the command:
    [SC] EnumQueryServicesStatus:OpenService FAILED 1060:
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

In Services: There is NO Parallels Tools Utility service!! Only a Parallels Choerence Service.

But I have Parallels Tools installed.
