I'm upgrading from Parallels 5 to 7. Is there any reason that I wouldn't want to just buy a disc as opposed to going to the parallels website and downloading the upgrade??. Assuming that the process is the same I rather own a disc and upgrade to desktop 7 from that

Personally I see little point in getting the disk, one reason should suffice, the fact that PDM is constantly updating, after one or two months the software you have on cd is out of date. Secondly the installer is all the same either you are upgrading, or installing from scratch or even just trialling the software, so you get the full software anyway.

What I do is download the latest version and keep a copy of the latest installer always in my backups. I've been using PDM since version 3 and always via digital download.

Thanks Specimen. Great response! You're correct in that the disc is out of date as soon as it arrives so a download makes more sense.
