hi Had a few questions relating to USB to serial port adapters. WHen I plug in a usb/serial adapter a window pops up sometimes and asks: 'do I want to use this device on mac or my parallels/xp'. The bottom says I can hold down the alt key to make that choice permant. How do I 'unselect' that adapter from defaulting now to parallels?? thanks
hi, thanks for the responce but I don't think that is it, all I can see there is the option to select or unselect a particular USB device. Perhaps you misread my post? Sure would like to know how to deselect a previously chosen default!
I assure you, that's the place. Perhaps you didn't not read that window carefully? It says on top: "Permanent assignments:" (I think it's self explanatory, but it means it's a list of usb devices that have been assigned permanently to a certain VM via the process you described). Below the list there's a + and a - sign, you select the device from the list and guess what button you press next? Yes! The -, which means it removes the device from the list of permanent assignments! And, if there's NO DEVICE THERE it's because you haven't permanently assigned ANY DEVICE.
hmm I think we are both in the correct spot, I know i have a device permanantly assigned cause it auto connects and just on that device it won't give me the mac /pc window , but when I look at the menu you describe I don't see those options so perhaps that is where my problem is maybe something got corrupted maybe there is another way to access that menu? really appreciate the responce and help
think I found it, i was in the menu on the left had nearly simular name to the one on the left side , wanted to make sure the serial adapters were working proper, but seems I still have the same issue thanks for helping me find those preferances
