I installed Parallels for Mac and installed XP using the 25 character code and activated XP. All worked fine initially. Now when I attempt to start XP I am told that XP is not activated and when I re-enter the 25 character code I am told that the code has been used the maximum number of times.

    What gives?

    Don't worry about it!
Follow the directions fo rmanual instal via telephone.
Give the new key generated to MS support.
They will issue you a one time activation code which is entered while they remain on the phone.

As a beta tester I've had to call them over 40X in the last 6 months! :)

    PS
    When responding to their questions:
DO NOT mention Parallels or Boot Camp
DO NOT mention OSX ro Macintosh
Just answer their questions keep it short!!!
The reason for reactivation: HARDWARE RECONFIGURATION!

Agreed. Say "yes" when they ask if Windows is installed on just one computer, etc. I've had to do this a couple of times and I've never had a problem.

Tell them the truth, but only as much as they need for a re-activation.

While I agree with the other posters that a call to Microsoft would probably solve the problem, I am wondering why the Windows XP VM would suddenly ask to be reactivated? In normal uses such a thing should not be happening.

If this happens more often it would really be a nuisance even if Microsoft grants you the reactivation request.

I agree, M$ is really screwy with their activations...
