At present, I have 6 USB devices connected to an XP guest running under Parallels 6. When I try to add another serial USB port, I get the following message:

There are no virtual USB host controller ports available in the virtual machine for the "USB-Serial Controller #6" device to be connected.

Is there a limit to the number of USB devices or serial ports?

I have tried unplugging and replugging the device, rebooting the VM, etc. If I unplug one, the new one is recognized.

This is a lab environment, so I need all of these devices (and more) for monitoring of instrumentation and the like.

    Hi,

I am using Parallels for developing purposes and encountered the USB device limit, too. After upgrading to P7 the limit seemed to be gone.

Actually I did not find any port limit in XP os but I am not sure is there any USB port limit in parallel. Could some one tell me is there any USB serial port limitation for parallel.
