so I'm trying to set up a new vm image with Ubuntu 7.04 (fiesty fawn) using parallels.

I've downloaded the live cd version but I'm having troubles getting it to boot. Maybe i should be using the alternate install cd?

I'm also a little disappointed that there is no built in option for ubuntu, I've tried the Debian and also other Linux options both with the same result. I've also tried using real cd and iso but still get same results.

by default i get a blank screen after boot unless i use the boot option vga=771

after that i just receive this error and i'm not sure what to try next ...

    --
    BusyBox v.1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-3ubuntu3) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
    (initramfs) _
    --

    any suggestions?

ok i actually got it working after following the instructions here ...

    http://www.simplehelp.net/2007/04/2...-os-x-using-parallels-a-complete-walkthrough/

weird that i had to select solaris from parallels settings even though ubuntu is debian based and i tried both debian other and linux other ... oh well it works now :)

so is there any word on official support for Ubuntu in the future? It seems to be one of the most popular flavors these days anyway.
