My boot camp Windows 7 Professional, virtual machine freezes every time, at shut down. I have Parallels 7 desk top installed on my Macbook Pro (late 2011) with Lion 10.7.3. it's been working great for months. Now, when I shut down from the windows menu, it says shutting down, the activity indicator spins for about 30 secs, then stops, frozen. I then go to the parallels menu and use the shut down or stop command. The funny thing is that when I start up the Windows virtual machine again, it seems to have shut down fine. I say this because its starts up without the windows error screen alerting a problem with the last shut down. When windows is opened natively by the boot camp partition, it shuts down with no problems. So far I have done a few things, I hoped, would resolve the issue, with the help of a Parallels help agent. 1. Deleted the Virtual Machine file from my Macbook and created a new one from the boot camp partition. No luck.... 2. Un-installed then re-installed Parallels 7 Desktop from a new download from Parallels. No luck.... 3. I tried to do a repair with the Windows disk. no luck.... 4. I retrieved an earlier virtual machine file from time machine from a time it was OK. It opened the VM but it preformed a CHKDSK. no luck.... and I hope that did not mess up my partition files. Does anyone have any suggestions to resolve this issue? Has anyone had this problem? I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks for reading, Joe
Parallels is blaming Windows I have the exact same issues, if you search the internet, lots of people are having this issue. Instead of fixing the issue, I guess it is easier to blame Win7
Any updates? I have the same problem with a recently installed (2014/1/27) Parallels Desktop 8. My Windows 7 (Bootcamp) is stuck on "Shutting down..." screen.
