Hello, I need to upgrade from Parallels 5 to 7 but I'm wondering a few things: Do I have to reinstall my version of Windows and start from scratch with the Parallels install? I have third party software (not virus-related) installed in Windows that I can no longer obtain with ease. Will these programs need to be re-installed? Basically, will my Windows install have to be started all over again or....? Sorry that these are newbie questions - I'm totally new to doing this on my own.
No, you shouldn't need to reinstall. Parallels will convert your existing virtual machine (i.e. Windows installation) so that it will still work. Oddly enough, I've had problems with new machines which I created with version 7, but no problems at all with existing machines that were created with version 4!
