Hi there About a month ago my Mac started trying to log out and close programs instead of going to sleep or just hibernating (keeping the programs open) when it had been left unattended for a while.. and I'm wondering if this has anything to do with any Parallels upgrades? I have the latest version of Parallels 5 and Snow Leopard.. It doesn't do this straight away after I activate the screen saver but only if I come back to it after some time.. When I come back & touch the trackpad, I immediately find my login box with username & password appear (as usual) but after I log back in, I find some Mac programs have been shut down and the following error info box (.png screen capture image attached) saying: "You haven't been logged out because the application Parallels Desktop failed to quit. To try logging out again, quit Parallels Desktop and choose Apple menu > Log Out".. etc. The thing is it never used to do this, and I don't want it to close down programs - just to hibernate/sleep as it used to so when I return the programs are still open and not attempting to quit. Does anyone know why this is and how to fix this? Thanks Zoe
I am having the exact same problem. It only seems to happen when the Mac has been sleeping for some time, like over night. I am using the latest version of Parallels 8 on Mac OS X 10.8.2.
Hi I found you need to change the security settings in System Preferences - just untick 'logout after x mins of inactivity'
Right it seems to be related to the Security Settings, under FileVault, advanced settings. I had log out automatically after 50 min of no activity set up. For me this is an important security option and I would rather find a way to leave it on.
No it's under security - general settings and you can still leave on 'require password x secs after sleep or screensaver begins' and set x secs that screensaver is activated and mins sleep is activated under energy saver.
