I did a "clean" install to a new Parallels VM for Windows 8 Pro Upgrade (which I purchased and downloaded yesterday). A word or warning. While it will install, the serial number you are given will not activate Windows 8. You get a message saying that this serial number will not work with a clean install.
I followed the instructions here http://www.ghacks.net/2012/10/27/windows-8-upgrade-clean-install-possible/ and now it's activated! Follow the Windows 7 regedit instructions.
Did I miss something? I purchased & downloaded the upgrade, but I haven't been given the option to create any install media. How do I initiate a "clean install"? (FWIW) I have several full XP and 7 licenses; I'm just doing this because of the warning from Parallels.
When you run the installer it will eventually come to an area where it downloads the files. Then it'll ask you if you want to do an install or create media or wait till later. It's about 10 minutes into the process, after first downloads all the files and then extracts them
