I have a weird problem with my desktop background being corrupt when using full screen mode. I have a dual display setup (27" thunderbolt + 23" HDMI monitors) on a Mac Mini. I've attached the screenshot. The weird thing is that if I click on the desktop and drag the 'square' the background is fixed behind where I've dragged. It's like it's not refreshing the desktop unless I force it to. Has anybody seen this before? Is there a simple fix? It's not killing my productivity or anything, but it's rather annoying to have to clear it out manually.
I can't recall anything like that. Are you running the latest PD8.0.18314? What version of Windows 8 is this, Consumer preview? Release preview? Release? Can you generate a problem report via Parallels Help menu and post report ID here.
Using latest PD8.0.18314, Windows 8 Pro RTM. Issue only occurs on startup. Is this when you want me to create the report?
We're able to reproduce your issue in our lab. This does seem specific to HD3000 with high resolution displays. Switching VM Configuration > Hardware > Video > 3D Acceleration from DirectX10 to DirectX9 makes it less frequent.
glad i'm not the only one having this problem, must have rebuilt my Windows 8 computer about 12 times now over the last 2 months! Horrendous. Using the latest version of Parallels, problem was with the Windows 8 Beta & current Windows 8 RTM. Problem seems to occur when you try and extend the VM's Hard Drive (through Parallels Config) or when the Mac crashes. Was going to use the snapshot feature to take a backup of the machine once freshly built but then saw that when you use this it limits your functionality else where. Getting seriously fed up now, very tempted to go back to Fusion, unless this is resolved asap.
Sorry just re-read the original problem and I don't have that, my problem is that when the hard-drive config is changed or mac crashes I get: "Unable to connect to hard-drive 1, A file or device required for the operation of Hard Disk 1 does not exist or is used by another process, or you have no permission to access it. The virtual machine will continue running, but the device will be disconnected." then i have to re-install the VM again from scratch... Mark
