I hope I am missing something here as this is my first time running Windows VM in an OSX host as I have previously owned only PC's, but so far the performance and visuals have been very disappointing. VM has 4GB RAM, 512MB Video memory and 64GB HDD, all setting are set for best VM performance. - Parallels 8 Trial downloaded today. 1. For some reason, even when selecting the "More space" option in VM>configuration>hardware>video the maximum resolution I am able to set in Windows is 1920 x 1080 and not the 2880 x 1800 which my 15" retina display is capable of displaying. At 1920 x 1080 the text is rather blurry and small. Maybe at full native screen res it will be more crisp even if smaller. 3. Gestures work badly, apart from the two finger swipe which will scroll the start screen somewhat normally all other gestures are either absent or do not work properly. For instance doing a two finger up/down swipe in Internet explorer is so erratic and fast scrolling that it's unusable, there also appears to be no swipe in for charms bar, swiping down/closing of apps and application switching swipes. Hopefully I just have not found where to enable them. 4. Visuals feel and look a bit laggy, have run Windows VM's before on different platforms and this is definitely pretty so so. Perhaps the fault of the high resolution or gpu not handling the load I dunno. Any tips on how I can get to a near native Windows 8 experience with smooth performance, crisp text and full gesture support even it means disabling OSX ones would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise OSX runs like a dream on this machine
No, after installing it definitely fixed most of these issues I was having. However I still can't get pinch to zoom to work properly in explorer etc. It's abysmally slow when you try to zoom in on something.
