I have a new MacBook Pro retina and it has always performed great in OSX alone. However when running Windows 8 in parallels it's now the second time in two days that the machine has either frozen during use or just plain restarted after being woken from sleep with the VM running.

Anyone else getting these? Should I lay the blame at Apple and bring the MacBook in for warranty or can Parallels 8 cause this ?

The VM is using 4GB RAM of 8, 64GB hard space and is set for best performance. Otherwise all has been left at default as the Parallels trial has set when it express installed Windows 8 retail. The OSX is a new install, with nothing other than parallels installed and running.

Also brightness setting keeps resetting for some reason. I switched off the dim screen when on battery for what it's worth. Not sure if Parallels toggles it in some way?

And happened again today. After being suspended for nearly 8 hours (Closed the Macbook when it was in Windows) and waking it up it froze and restarted OSX. Machine was unplugged from power but still had 97% battery life after rebooting.

I can understand the VM crashing and whatnot, but is it normal for it to take OSX with it ?
