Ok, from a non techie. I have Parallels v7 with Windows 7.

All working fine but have been tidying up files on my virtual machine to reduce their size down. I now want to open music files which are currently stored on my virtual machine within itunes on my Mac.

As I have a few thousand songs I dont want to double up by having a version on each so is there any way of having a single folder which is shared between windows and mac? If so can anyone advise. Sorry for the basic question!

I noticed "home on 'psf'" and this seems to be possibly shared but if I put my music files in here I wont be able to see them within my windows library folders (documents, pictures, videos, music).

I have been gradually moving to full Mac functionality and am now using Apple Mail, Safari etc. The only thing that concerns me importing music into iTunes is that it doesnt seem as readily available. For example my wife has her own Macbook Air and with the music files on windows I can chuck them on a USB dongle and place them on her macbook so she can use them on her iPhone, whereas I am not au fait with iTunes yet to know if it is this easy. Am sure someone will kick me but I have had very little experience with iTunes so this is all new to me!

    Any help appreciated.

In Parallels go to the configuration options for your VM, under Options there is a section for Sharing.

If you make sure "Isolate VM from Mac" is unticked, and you have told it to share the documents, videos, pictures etc then Parallels should automatically add the network location to your libraries.

If it hasn't there is a manual way to do this. Be aware that network locations don't support indexing in a Windows libraries, you won't really notice this as a problem unless you upgrade to Windows 8 though, and it will mean in that the Microsoft pictures app won't see your files, as it only sees indexed files.

I'll give more detailed instructions tonight when I get home if you are stuck.
