I've had problems with the Windows 8 video and music Metro interface applications. The first time they are opened they work as expected, any attempt to re-open fails. On the second attempt to open the apps solid colored splash screen will appear briefly but then the app crashes and returns me to either moutain lion or windows screen depending on the viewing mode of coherence or window. I can uninstall and reinstall the app and it will again work but only once.

This has happened on 2 clean installs of parallels 8 trial and 3-4 clean installs of windows 8 preview. I'd like to have assurance this works before commiting to the license costs.

    Can anyone help?

I've had this issue too, albeit on my physical win8 laptop. Most common issue seems to a pick from these:
1 - Screen res falls below 1024x768 (ie, some netbooks have vertical res below 768).
2 - AVAST antivirus - must be at latest version for Win8 metro to work.
3 - Display drivers not up to date.
4 - Windows store account changed/machine account changed.

I was running Avast, but it I don't think it was the issue, as it persisted when uninstalled, but I fixed it by doing the following.

    1 - Uninstall Avast
    2 - Update display drivers
3 - Uninstall all metro apps
    4 - Reinstall metro apps
    5 - Reinstall Avast

    Now all is well.
