    Hi,

I use Windows 8 x64 on Parallels Desktop 8 on my retina Macbook Pro.
I assigned 2 cpu cores and 4GB ram to Windows 8, but in Windows I see that I have 4,00GB installed where only 2,75GB is usable.

Why is only 2,75GB usable and how can I resolve this problem?

    Hi,
thank you for feedback, we do appreciate it!
To investigate the issue we need some technical information, so could you please open the window with this "4,00GB installed where only 2,75GB is usable" inside your VM, send us Problem Report as described in http://kb.parallels.com/en/9058 and give me an ID?

    Thanks in advance,
    Hanna

    Revoliño,
I see no resources usage info on your report's screenshots, and we really need it - could you send me a separate screenshot to hanna@parallels.com then?

This is also occurring on my Windows 8 VM. What information could I provide to help troubleshoot the issues?

Have the same problem. I'm running Windows 8 64bit guest OS. It boots using EFI boot loader.

    Same problem here

I too have same problem. Whatever is the allotted RAM memory, the usable memory always stays at 2.75 GB.

    Please help.

What is the status of this issue? Limiting the amount of available RAM is a substantial performance compromise.

    Any word on this?

I have the same issue on a Windows XP and Windows 7 VM. I would like to be able to to push more RAM to these systems. They are only 32-bit, but 32-bit supports more than 2.75 GB RAM.

Please let me know when a fix is discovered. I have just upgraded to Parallels 8.

Could it have anything to do with the "BIOS"? I have been using this VM since Parallels 6.

JKeefe, this issue couldn't affect you. It related to EFI BIOS,
while PD6 VMs do not have it. And EFI BIOS used for 64bit OSes,
while you are running 32bit ones.
So, it's something different, and I do not know about such issues
    with conventional BIOS and Parallels.

    @Johnny Chimpo, @AntonI, @NagarajanK, could you please
    1. Open up the window in Windows where you see only 2.75 GB of RAM assigned
    2. Hit Help > Report a Problem at the top Mac menubar
    3. Post the IDs here

    Thanks in advance!
