I need to upgrade to a Parallels Desktop version that will function with my Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Which Parallels Desktop version should I use? is it still available? I have Parallels Desktop 3.0 installed in my MacBook Pro.

I upgraded to Snow Leopard, 10.6.8 in order to use IMovie. I wasn't told that I needed to then upgrade to Lion in order to use IMovie on my Mac. I have decided not to upgrade to Lion, I'm afraid of programs on the computer that will cease to function. So, I upgraded to Snow Leopard for no reason since I still can't use IMovie and don't dare to upgrade to Lion.

With my upgrade to Snow Leopard, my Parallels Desktop 3.0 ceased to work. I cannot access Windows XP at this time because I have Snow Leopard installed.
I'm not comfortable wiping my harddrive and starting over with my previous OS. My only option seems to be to install an upgrade to Parallels Desktop.

    Dear Support,

I have same problem as "MyronK".
We have Mac Mini. We used Parallels Destop 3.0on Mac OS 10.5.8 (Leopard) and it worked perfetly!!!!
But we had to upgrade to Mac OS to 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and the Parallels Desktop 3.0 DOESN'T START!

How we can use it again?
Or how we can upgrade to 4.0 or newer version, but it is very IMPORTANT, that we would like to keep and use the virtual machine data and applications!
    Is it possible?
    Please answer us!!!

Thank you very much in advance!

    Hi,

Since Parallels Desktop 3 has been EOLed and does not run on Mac OS X 10.6 and later, the only option is to upgrade to Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac. The 3 > 8 upgrade instructions can be found at http://kb.parallels.com/112283

Thank you for your assistance. I'm a bit disgusted that someone at another website had suggested I upgrade to Snow Leopard. I was trying to download IMovie.
I learned I also need to download and upgrade to OS Lion. Which may disable additional programs on my Mac.

So, I didn't, and now my Parallels for Desktop 3 doesn't function with Snow Leopard.

Frustrating that I need to purchase Parallels Desktop for Mac 8 because of misinformation or rather not enough information. Wish I would have been told new Mac OS programs may disable programs that are on my Mac.
