I have been attempting to play Star Wars: The Old Republic using Parallels 8. I have used both Windows 7 and 8 virtuals and run into the same problem: when loading the game, the virtual machine restarts. Sometimes it takes place while the menu is loading, sometimes when the game is loading. It is like the VM is just getting overloaded. I am using the latest iteration of the 27" iMacs with a 3TB Fusion Drive (thus, I cannot use Boot Camp). I have the following setup: iMac (27-inch, Late 2012) Processor: 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB Software:OS X 10.8.2 (12C2037) Storage: 3TB Fusion Drive Can anyone offer any advice? The Parallels Tech Support has scheduled calls to work through the issue with me but never actually call. Thanks!
Not what you want to hear, but I had horrible performance when attempting to run SWToR on my MacBook under Parallels. My Windows 7 VM had 4 CPU, 8 GB RAM and was on an SSD hard disk. Even with the graphics turned down, the frame rates were horrible. I ended up doing a bootcamp just for gaming and I couldn't be happier.
