I have a mac OS X (10.6.8) host running a windows XP guest OS, using Parallels Desktop 4.0.3846

It has been working fine, until I lost the ability today to copy paste clipboard text between guest and host.

Following advice from this forum, I re-installed parallels tools.

Now copy paste works, but I have to press ctrl-alt to get the mouse out of the VM.

I tried both 'repair' and a complete uninstall and re-install of parallels tools (with all the requisite restarts in between).

The installation seemed to complete ok - my shared folders work, etc - and there were no error messages.

any ideas? Apart from upgrading that is.

Try to temporarily uninstall antivirus, disable firewall and reinstall parallels tools again as suggested here: http://kb.parallels.com/8969

Hi there, thanks for the suggestion.

I tried switching off the firewall (no antivirus) and re-installing tools, but it had no effect.

I'll try the more thorough cleanup as suggested in the article and report back.
