Discussion in 'General Questions' started by Parallels User, Apr 6, 2013.

  1. I have sucessfully been using parallels for desktop version 8 on the latest iMac for about 4 months. The virtual machine runs Windows 8. 2 days ago I shutdown the iMac with the windows 8 suspended. Today after turning on the iMac and clicking to resume Windows 8 i get an error message "Unable to start the virtual machine. licking on the "help me solve the problem" reveals a Problem ID:44 but no advise on how to solve the problem
    Can anyone help?

Although everything in the Article is not as found on my system Trashing, from the Windows 7.pvm Contents Package, the 2 Item mentioned it has allowed me to regain control of Parallels.

Using Activity Monitor it was possible to Stop Parallels VM, but not quite in the manner described, however this action failed to regain control over Parallels. In case it is of any value the differences noted were:

In Activity Monitor it was not possible to Stop the Parallels VM Process, clicking on it and hitting the Stop Button had nil effect. I waited and waited but nothing happened.

Again in Activity Monitor clicking on Parallels Desktop Process and hitting the Stop Button had the effect of ending that process fairly quickly and after a short time ending the Parallels VM Process also.

Perhaps giving this Article more prominence would be a benefit to Users experiencing this problem?
As a returning, after a very long absence, User the amount of information available is massive. Getting to what is needed is a problem in itself.

Well done Javed, I was able to report a resolution to the Ticket that had been raised an hour or so earlier.

Worked perfectly, thanks for the instruction. This thread should be highlighted as important, AND added in the FAQs.
