I bought a full version 8 from NewEgg and would like to install that in place of v7 on my MacBook Pro, and then put the old v7 on my wife's MacBook Pro

How should I go about installing the v8 on my Mac and the v7 on my wife's with regards "upgrade" on mine and then registering and activating each copy ?

    Hi,
You may do it like this:
    1. Install Parallels Desktop 8 no your Mac Book Pro (It will remove Parallels Desktop 7 automatically while installing)
    2. Enter the product key at the end of installation.
    3. Install Parallels Desktop 7 on your wife's Mac Book Pro (just mount the image or insert the disk and double click on it in Finder -> follow installation wizard)
    4. Activate it with your Key for 7th version.

You may download Parallels Desktop 7 last build here: http://www.parallels.com/download/build/desktopv7/
    Parallels Desktop 8 here: http://www.parallels.com/directdownload/pd8
How to install Parallels Desktop 8: http://kb.parallels.com/en/115755

    Thanks for that.

    Just one more question !

When upgrading from V7 to V8 on my MacBook, will my Windows XP remain in tact ?

upgrade of Parallels Desktop is not related to the Virtual Machines. If I got your question in a right way - your Windows XP will not be affected by Parallels Desktop upgrade. But after upgrade your Tools inside the virtual machine will start to upgrade itself automatically.
