I've installed Workstation 2.5 on Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty) thanks to all the various pieces of advice and the special build for 2.6.20. I am having one odd problem, however...

I have "Desktop Effects" enabled on my system which, as I understand it is Compriz. When I start a VM, the console window is transparent (translucent) which while cute on a text console is downright annoying on a graphical one.

Anybody have a suggestion on how to disable the transparency in Parallels without turning off Desktop Effects?

    Thanks...
    John

Where did you get parallels 2.5? All i can find is 2.2 in various builds.

FYI, the transparency issue still exists in 2204, so the same basic fix applies.

The fix still works, but the file to edit is

    /usr/lib/parallels/parallels

    NOT

    /usr/bin/parallels

as indicated in the fix linked above.

    Ubuntu 7.10 Host, any guest.
