I just switched from Windows to the Mac (MacBook Pro Retina 15", 16 GB of memory, 512 GB SSD) and, since I had photo software that either had no Mac version (PaintShop Pro X5, SNS-HDR) or had a version I could not get without paying a substantial fee for upgrading (PhotoShop CS5) I decided to try Parallels. I had expected the Windows software to work well but had not expected the degree of integration between Windows and OS X that I found.

I generally use PhotoShop or PaintShot Pro only to take care of specific problems and use other software (Aperture, ACDSee's Pro 3) to handle my general workflow. I had thought I would have to do my work in a workflow tool, save the intermediate versions and then call CS5 or X5 to handle those intermediate files. Instead, much to my surprise, I found I could call the Windows version of the software from the Mac version of the software seamlessly, just as it worked on the PC. Simply amazingly well done and, since I did not expect it, a big bonus. Congratulations, Parallels.

The only real remaining issues I can see (now) is that I am having a problem trying to figure out what screen resolutions to use. If I use the native resolution for my MacBook Pro Retina screen the PhotoShop UI that appears has the controls so small that I can't read them. If I use a resolution that gives me a usable CS5 UI, then the stuff on the Mac side is too large and I can't see enough of the UI to be useful. If I switch resolutions when switching UIs, then I am constantly opening the System Preferences window. Is there some way to adjust the resolution on the Parallels Window display other than through System Preferences? And, if not, what do other users do?

    Thanks for any help.
