How exactly does it work, I own a Parallels 7 license and have gotten the email to upgrade to 9.

I have a new Macbook that I like to move Parallels over to, do I have to install 7 first in order to install 9, or will it ask for my 7 licensing key?

typically, when you enter an Upgrade Serial, it will alert you that you have entered an Upgrade serial and that you need to enter your qualifying previous serial. At this point a box will appear for you to enter the serial number.

If your PD7 serial was an upgrade, it will probably not allow you to use it.

If you are like me, and bought Parallels 8 in July, then you are SOL.

Parallels 7 was a full license. And what happen to you with Parallels 8 is exactly what happen to me with Parallels 7 so I decided to hold out till 9 came out to upgrade again.

I tried there competitors product also during that time and I did not enjoy it at all. With OSX Mavericks coming out I figured the time was right.
