I have Mavericks DP7 installed as a VM on Parallels 9, as well as Windows 8. I am using a 2013 MacBook Air. I can run the Windows 8 in full screen, but when I run Mavericks in full screen, it comes up 'square' with black bars on the right and left. The image does not fill the screen.

Does anyone know what I am missing?

    Thanks,
    Rob

I don't have Mavericks installed. When you run it in windowed mode does the screen resolution in the virtual machine change when you change the virtual machine window size? If not, then it means the Parallels video driver (part of Parallels Tools for Mac) is not installed. Do other Parallels Tools work such as shared folders?

    Code:
    Joes-Mac-Pro-VM:~ joevt$ kextstat | grep parallels
       39 0 0xffffff7f80974000 0x4000 0x4000 com.parallels.kext.mouse (9.0 23046.917896) <37 26 7 6 5 4 3 1>

Seems a generic issue. Parallel tools are installed.

There's also the process in /Library/Parallels Guest Tools:
    coherence
    copypaste
    dynres
    timesync

dynres is responsible for changing the virtual machine's screen resolution when you go fullscreen or change the virtual machine window size. copypaste is responsible for syncing the clipboard between the host and the guest.

One time copypaste crashed and Copy and Paste between the guest and host stopped working but I was able to relaunch it to get the sync working again.

Check Activity Monitor.app to see if those processes are running.
