I had hoped that with version 9 of Parallels that I would be able to use my Vantec eSATA ExpressCard in Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro, but I can't figure out how. Is there a way? I connect eSATA drives to the Vantec but they only show up in Mac OS and I can't find a way to switch it to the Windows side. The drives are NTFS formatted so are read-only on the Mac side and I would like to read and write which I why I would them to connect on the Windows side.

Add a Boot Camp type Hard Disk to the virtual machine configuration.

Virtual Machine -> Configure -> [+] Hard Disk -> Type: Boot Camp -> select the drive location -> OK. Then startup your virtual machine.

Parallels Desktop 9 does this automatically for USB and FireWire drives while your virtual machine is running but it doesn't do that for drives from other buses for no apparent reason.

  3. can you pls make a problem report (Help->Report a problem) on running VM when you have just plugged the drive and send its number here?
