new user needs help

Hi everyone. My name is Heemi.

I just bought an Imac running mac os 10.85. I really like it but as most of you i have software that i need to run in windows. So i bought parallels 8 and a copy of windows xp pro. Everything installed fine.

My problem is xp is only on service pack 1 or 2 and i need service pack 3. I cant seem to install any software or update anything without recieving a bombardment of errors.

i guess the place to start for me is to first work on getting windows updated. It appears the first step to that is update to internet explorer 8? i downloaded that and tried to install and get this message...


entry point not found

the procedure entry point SHRreggetvalueW could not be located in the dynamic link library shlwapi.dll


i know you guys probably get alot of this stuff but if someone could help me that would be awesome and id owe you big time
