I am running Parallels Desktop 3.0 for Mac on an intel iMac. When trying to install and run Ubuntu 6.06 Server as the guest OS (the install went fine from the iso file). The start-up hangs at the stage: boot Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel There are no other error message. Thanks if anyone can help. Russell
I have a similar problem with RHEL ES 4.4 on a MacPro. Install seems good, but it hangs in the same place upon restart.
Its a well known problem just follow the steps in the Parallels Knowledgebase acticle, worked fine for me two days ago. http://kb.parallels.com/entry/31/276/
The tip in http://kb.parallels.com/entry/31/276/ didn't quite work for me, as I'm running Ubuntu dapper (6.06), which apparently doesn't have the linux-generic package (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=3096290#post3096290). However, doing `apt-get install linux-image-386` did the trick.
